"Road Trip" Sermon #7 - Repent (Come and See!)

Message #7 in my "Road Trip" series at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church.

Title: "Repent (Come and See!)"
Summary: Continues to unpack the condensed version of the message of Jesus in Mark 1:15 "The time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God has come near; repent and believe the good news!" The focus this time is the word "Repent." Although the word is strongly connected to risk and threat in our culture, it doesn't just refer to the need to turn from something bad. It can also be a call to turn towards something wonderful. In fact, every turning involved both a turn-from and a turn-towards. In the message of Jesus however, the emphasis is on the arrival of the Kingdom, which is not to be seen as a threat, but as "good news!" The message of Jesus is a turn-towards invitation, and adopting that perspective can change the way we experience our lives.
